Getting Involved With Ducks Unlimited

A few months ago, I joined a really great organization called Ducks Unlimited.  I had heard of that organization for years, but didn’t realize all that it does for the sport of duck hunting and more importantly, protecting the wetlands that many waterfowl inhabit.  Without wetlands, more than 900 wildlife species would be without a home and our entire ecosystem would be disrupted.

So far, the US has lost more than half of it original wetlands and even with the efforts of organizations like Ducks Unlimited, continues to lose more than 800,000 acres of wetlands each year.  If this continues to happen, not only will waterfowl lose their home, but so many other creatures too.  Each time a species becomes extinct, the eco-system is hurt, in ways we may not know of in our life time.  For the sake of ourselves, and the generations to come after us, we have to be careful of destroying species without understanding how that can affect our world.

I really want people to know how important the wetlands are.  Please take a couple of minutes to learn about the importance of wetlands and how you can make a difference.
