Hunting Corner
I’m a hunter, but I don’t just hunt for the thrill of it, although I do enjoy the sport of hunting very much. There are also very specific reasons to hunt, reasons that most people probably don’t know or even think about.
Did you know that without hunting, populations of many animals would go unchecked? They would out produce their habitat and food and succumb to disease. A prime example is Chronic Wasting Disease, a neurological disease that is almost always fatal in deer, elk and moose.
Remember, hunting has occurred for hundreds of years and this helped keep populations of animals in check. Without hunting, these animals suffer and starve.
Plus, you hear talk of eating organic all of the time now. There is nothing more organic than venison that has been free to roam and organically fed for its entire lifetime. Eating the mystery meat that comes in plastic wrap or fast food bags seems scary to me.
The next time you think of hunting and think of it as cruel, remember your grandfather and great grandfather and think about how they put dinner on the table. Chances are, they were thrilled to capture one of the game I’ll be talking about here.
My goal in this corner is to teach you about hunting and how you too can enjoy pure, organic meat for your family too.
